Real Time with Bill Maher (1-20-12) – Mitt Romney, Straight Outta Salt Lake

I just recently started watching Real Time at DISHOnline.com after a recommendation from a coworker here at DISH. This is one of the better episodes I have seen. While the panelists differed in opinion, yet they were able to converse with civility. That cannot be said for every episode I have seen. This segment on Mitt really highlights my issue with the guy. I don’t care too much about magic underwear or rebaptizing the dead, I do care that he is blinded by his own money and his own rhetoric.
The statement, The sheltaiewt 1% earns more income than the bottom 50 percent is irrelevant. Wealth and its distribution are not guaranteed in a free society. What is relevant is opportunity. Everyone must be have equal opportunity. That implies people may move between income levels for those where income is important.Given we live in a civilized society, there is no need to have anxiety about distribution of wealth. All that is needed is a supportive society and government to assist when individuals are on the down side. The obsession with wealth distribution seems to be based more on fear, emotions, and anxiety. Where does this issue come from? Is it those who want more? Is it those who are jealous? Is it those who fear rough times?
